Abalino Dance Theatre (UK)
"Bobroshkov’s Dream" is a delightful and dreamy work. It was inspired by the warmth inside and the loneliness outside of an old man's memory; by the old men that watch the world, but see the past. Through a series of images and metamorphoses, it tells the story of a magical world of hopes and dreams that is awoken as an old man struggles to put his slippers on...
Short info about the company:
Abalino Dance Theatre was set up in 2004 by choreographer Alice Cade and Puppet-maker Mike Helmy. The company presented its work at Resolution!2005 to rave reviews. In 2005, the company was the winner of a Creative Leicestershire Bursary Award, and in 2006 it won the „Best of the Fest Award‟ at the Buxton Fringe Festival. Choreographer Alice Cade has been awarded a Puppet Centre Bursary 2007/8 to further pursue her work in this new field.
Abalino Dance Theatre uses innovative and experimental techniques that combine the expressive qualities of contemporary dance and physical theatre with the magic of puppetry. It is one of the only companies in the UK to successfully combine these elements.
Drawing on principles from Japanese Bunraku theatre, the Circus, and ideas of illusions and transformations, Abalino Dance Theatre has developed a blend of wordless movement and puppet theatre. The performer is part dancer, part puppeteer and part puppet. Abalino Dance Theatre provides exciting and accessible visual theatre that appeals to all ages and backgrounds.

"Old eyes on new dance"
It is something about rolling on the floor and running around on bare feet and making strange and abstract movements. It doesn’t interest me. I have been raised in the old ballet tradition. I don’t care for the modern...no, I don’t .
Horrible! It might be quite fun to do but it looks horrible.
It doesn’t give me anything. And the music is awful but that is something totally different. No, I don’t know?

"Chez Debs' Rehearsel Party"
A durational performance set in a dressing room. Chez Debs is a concert, an electro-party, a rehearsal, as well as a live art installation. The ambition is to both entertain and challenge by utilizing as well as thematizing the transformative power of an art event. Abundance, sweets, tarrantella and grotesque humour is taking the visitors on an apocalyptic journey into a stylised collage of iconoclastic metaphors, a luminous world with two-dimensional characters simulating a distorted dream about the perfect life.
Chez Debs er støttet af Tuborgfondet og Kunstrådets Scenekunstudvalg.

Event Transportable (DK)

"Flowers of noise and colour"

"Confessional / Exposure"
It is a space and opportunity for one to confess their guilt.
In catholic culture the confessional is a dimly lit stall where one confesses one’s sins to an anonymous priest. In Confessional /Exposure one is invited to confess a sin to an anonymous spectator, an be logged in an archive of sins.
Avarice, jealousy, lying, envy, adultery, corruption, theft, greed, murder. All since welcome.

MIKS (UK)
"We’re Working On It" is an installation performance displaying a collection of performative situations involving text, bodies, a loop sampler and balloons. The material derives from 25 performance artists’ responses to a questionnaire concerning their art practice.
For the premier of this new work MIKS relocated themselves into a storeroom within the Greenwich Dance Agency art deco building. A durational performance, people were welcome to come and go throughout the evening, and stay as long as they liked.
“After a while, the substance of the answers and the externally objective, but internally sensitive presence of the performers start resonating. As audience you start thinking about your own life, the lives of the performers and then eventually everyone's lives.” -Audience member-
About MIKS:
MIKS is a dance theatre company under the joint artistic direction of Anaïs Bouts, Sara Lindström and Ida Uvaas. Collaboratively and conceptually driven, MIKS aims to explore the boundaries between performance making and other art forms by delivering provocative, entertaining work and nurturing artists’ multifaceted roles as performer, creator and curator. The work challenges a number of conventional ideas in theatre and choreography: the notion of ownership, the fluctuation of an artistic creation, the creative processes, and the significance of people’s individual style.

"Spaces"
I am interested in the duality between the real, physical space and the mental, inner space. I am exploring this duality by juxtaposing a real space and it's scale-model replica, as differences of visual relations and perceptions transposed to emotional level. By doing this the rules of the physical world can be broken and replaced with the illogical structure of dreams.

"8 bit"
”A bit is a binary digit. A ”1”or a ”0”, an ”on” or an ”off”, a ”yes” or a ”no”. A bit is either confirming or affirming a state of being. All registration of existence starts with the posing of a question and the registration of the answer given. Existence is derived from the participation of the observer, there is nothing without this engagement. What is, is identical to the thought that recognizes it. All things derives its basic function from the binary yes/no indication of bits. A bit is the basic unit of communication. A bit is a difference that makes a difference.”

"The Littles"
Mine to figurer går rundt i alt hemmelighed og betragter os mennesker.
